Applications of the Iml Procedure for Multiple Response Permutation Tests

چکیده
This article discusses statistical methods for the analysis of multivariate data in experiments with a relatively small number of subjects. Methods based on the assumption of multivariate normality have power that decreases rapidly as the number of variates increases for a fixed sample size. In some investigations, the number of variates exceeds the sample size creating an awkward dilemma in classical multivariate analysis. Permutation tests have many useful applications especiaJly where the assumptions such as normal distributions and hornescedasticity are in question. Additionally, the number of variates relative to the sample size is not an issue with these tests .. We discuss a multivariate permutation test and present a readily implemented IML procedure for constructing these tests. Software for the multiple response permutation tests was available previously in the SAS® Supplemental Library as PROC MRPP but has been discontinued in SAS Version 6. Our IML program in, SAS Version 6 fills this void as illustrated in the three examples presented.

Introducing a Non-Dichotomous Method for Scoring Selected-Response Tests
The main purpose of this study was to introduce a new non-dichotomous scoring procedure for the multiple-choice test method, called Parledge. The research also aimed to determine Parledge characteristics through a psychometric study comparing it with the “Number Correct” and “Correction for Guessing” scoring methods. There were 35 students participating in the study who were given a vocabulary ...
متن کاملMETAPERM: A SAS Macro for Permutation Tests of Linear Models in Meta-analysis
With the growing popularity of meta-analytic techniques to analyze and synthesize results across sets of empirical studies, has come concern about the sensitivity of traditional tests in meta-analysis to violations of assumptions. Such violations are particularly distressing because the tenability of such assumptions in primary studies is often impossible to evaluate. Permutation tests for line...

متن کاملA Simulation Study to Compare the Performance of Permutation Tests for Time by Group Interaction in an Unbalanced Repeated-Measures Design, Using Two Permutation Schemes
The use of permutation tests for the analysis of data incorporating repeated measurements presents a choice of possible permutation schemes to generate the empirical null distribution of the test statistic. A commonly-recommended scheme keeps the vector of observations for each subject intact, with permutation based on group membership only. Another option is to permute the observations across ...
متن کاملOptimality of the Westfall-Young permutation procedure for multiple testing under dependence
Test statistics are often strongly dependent in large-scale multiple testing applications. Most corrections for multiplicity are unduly conservative for correlated test statistics, resulting in a loss of power to detect true positives. We show that the Westfall-Young permutation method has asymptotically optimal power for a broad class of testing problems with a block-dependence and sparsity st...
